MochaWifey's Random Thoughts

MW Random Thought #4 - I ain't stuttin you.

Maybe I was a heffa....maybe I was being a jerk...or maybe I was just staying true to my word.

My wedding invitation read, and I quote,
"Ceremony will begin promptly at 4." and we did. Sorry to the bridesmaid who missed the whole thing, but that direction went for guests AND participants.

Just because you're a briesmaid or a groomsman, my dear aunt Sally, the coordinator, or WHATEVER you are, please don't believe that I will halt my day to await your grand arrival. As my grandmother would say, "I ain't stuttin you"....See you at the reception boo.

Great random thought. I lied on my invites. I stated that the ceremony would begin at 4:30pm. The program stated that the ceremony would begin at 5:00. I know our people, and they thought I was late, but no no. I was ON TIME!!!

I heard that. When the bridal processional, nobody was allowed in. The doors shut. Do you know somebody had the nerve to complain? hmph. You might be chair of the women's guild, but on this HERE day, I run this. hmph. acting crazy because YOU were late.

my wedding planner suggested that we make the invitation time a half hour ahead for late stragglers. hmph. Whatever. we refused to accomodate people that can't be on time. I know because I'm one of them! But on THAT day, I was going to be on time. The invite said 3:30, and doggone it, short of Jesus coming again, that was when the ceremony was going to begin. And it DID. :)

My wedding invites said 4:00 P.M. and it started at 4:01 P.M.; I didn't put specific emphasis on being punctual, but I am so glad that things went that way!

I don't reward people for bad behavior. I tell my clients - put the EXACT time of the ceremony on the invitation, no exceptions.

One of two things will happen:
1) They'll be on time
(and subsequently get to see everything!)

2) They'll be late - and see you walk back down the aisle with your new spouse.

That's it!

YOU BETTER SAY THAT!! lol When I was in my holding room, as the ceremony had started, I peeked my head out to see one of my homegirl's standing there. She gave me the "Can you get me in?" eye, but my coordinator gave HER the "didn't I already tell you" eye. I just went back in the room. The invitation said 4pm and we started at exactly that time.
