HOT fun in the Summertime!

Everyone loves a summer wedding, right? I can remember one such wedding I attended where it was so hot, the flys couldn't fly. That was a summer wedding I did NOT love. LOL Here are a few tips to help you have a COOL Summer wedding.
  • PROGRAM FANS! - Chances are, if your wedding is in warm weather, whatever programs you provide will be engineered into some kind of fanning mechanism anyway so why not make it easier on your guests and actually provide them with one. Program fans are a breeze to make and your guests will love you for their functionality. Check out Cthe ChocolateBrides.com messageboard for instructions on how to make them!
  • COOL BEVERAGES - Provide your guests with bottled water as favors by printing up your own custom labels. For a more formal affair, choose cool drinks as your signature cocktails; Coladas, Mint Juleps, or frothy Mojitos. For an outdoor or stationed wedding reception, provide stations of different lemonade flavors.
  • GET MARRIED LATER IN THE DAY - Mid-day is the hottest time of the day. How about choosing to tie the knot closer to dusk so that the sun is already heading home for the night and thus giving your guests a break from the heat.
  • MAKE SURE THE VENUE HAS A/C - Older, cathedral-type churches look awesome in wedding pictures. If you choose to get hitched in an older church, however, ask your venue's coordinator how well it has been updated over the years. As crazy as it seems, new stained glass may have been more of a priority than a new air conditioning system. Asking questions beforehand could be the difference between smiling guests and a mutiny.
  • SAVE ON THE FABRIC - I know you've always envisioned your bridesmaids in billowing pick-up skirts that flutter ever-so-gently when they walk, but baby...that's hot. Check out some cocktail dresses or other lighter material options for your girls. They will thank you.
  • FORGET WHAT MOMMA TOLD YOU - Put your hands in the air and step away from the pantyhose. I know your mom told you to NEVER go without them, but underneath a wedding gown, in July weather, your legs will be as moist as her eyes when you walk the aisle. Lotion up girlfriend and keep stepping.
